Baby Loss Awareness Week
Harbour View would like to draw attention to Baby Loss Awareness Week: http://www.babyloss-awareness.org/
It is quite well known that the number of ‘Cot Deaths’ (or S.I.D.S.) has fallen in recent years but less known that the number is now exceeded by stillbirths, which occur in the UK 11 times per day on average.
The nature of stillbirth gives rise to a complicated mourning process often not understood by the family and friends of the bereaved parents.
A heart rendering example of the impact such deaths have on a family is reported in the Bournemouth Echo, Wednesday 12th October 2011, pages 10 & 11 ‘Not right that healthy babies die’ where a web site is quoted for families affected by stillbirth can find help or interested people can make a donation: http://www.babyloss-awareness.org/
